Rave History - Been partying for since 96, throwing them since 98. I
prefer
the little 2-400 person parties, so that's the style I take when I
build a
party.
Musical Preference - Anything with beats, especially funky or tribal
beats.
I tend to stay away from Hardcore and anything that pushes me too hard.
My
favorite music happens when the DJ or live act has mad passion for
what
they're doing. Check out Sonic Odyssey if you get a chance... I think
they
may have changed their name, but it's three guys (Nick, Sam, and Barry)
who
have the most energetic live set ever. They're my prediction for future
world-class talent.
Hobbies/Interests - Outdoor sports (Hiking, swimming, snowboarding,
etc.),
engineering type stuff, computers, music (boh!), and all sorts of sociality.
What Raving Means to You - It's about finding yourself in a place that's
free, or at least ideally so. Much like the hippies of the 60's who
were
looking for the freedom to explore, and using that freedom as a catlyst
to
understand themselves and society. The problem arises when you get
into
corporate style raves, where it's all about bigger, badder, and more
expensive. The best way to explain it is by saying that someday I'm
going to
throw a huge free party at a place like homebase, just to show everyone
how
it could ideally be.
